Locals Closet Swap & Shop at The Huntress in Pound, Ridge NY - February 2026

In February, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I planned and curated a local Accessory Swap & Shop featuring three women-led artisans whose work brought something completely different to the accessory space.

Flora Vintage offered custom embroidery on vintage handkerchiefs, Haute Energy led a DIY bracelet-making and bead workshop, and A Shirt Story reimagined oversized men’s shirts by replacing their original buttons with feminine, crystal and playful designs, transforming traditionally masculine pieces into something entirely new.

I loved bringing these three makers together and creating an experience where people could discover their work, make something of their own, and connect with the stories behind each brand. Choosing the designers, shaping the concept, and bringing the event to life was such an honor, and a reminder of how much I enjoy creating spaces where local brands can be discovered in person.

Check out the three designers below.

A Shirt Story

“Valerie doesn’t hesitate to brainstorm and explore channels with like minded entrepreneurs to support our small brands and maximize our loud voices.

She has created a community of women (as far as I know) who make things happen.”
— Sasha Iglehart, Founder of A Shirt Story

Flora Vintage

“I've had the chance to work alongside Valerie on two clothing swaps at The Huntress, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. She has a way of bringing people together that feels effortless. Everything she creates is rooted in kindness, community, and a genuine desire to make fashion more sustainable.
What I appreciate most is that she's both incredibly creative and incredibly organized—a combination that's hard to find. She communicates clearly, follows through on every detail, and somehow makes everyone involved feel welcome and valued. Valerie has built something really special with Locals Closet, and it's been such a pleasure to be a small part of it. I can't wait for the next one."
— Brooke Savona, Founder of Flora Vintage
